Meet the Team

Our team of Forest School Leaders brings a rich and varied background—from EYFS, primary, and international teaching, to maths and language specialists, SEND experience, and the insights of being parents. Despite their diverse paths, they are united by a shared belief in the power of nature—its ability to be both the perfect playground and an inspiring classroom. Together, they create engaging, inclusive, and memorable outdoor experiences where children can explore, learn, and grow.

Daisey

Owner of Little Forest School

Daisey grew up exploring the South Downs, where a love of foraging, den building, and nature connection began. Inspired by her years living in Finland, she’s passionate about bringing the outdoors- in-all-weathers ethos to families here in the UK.

Daisey first attended Little Forest School as a parent, where founder Lucy’s passion inspired her to train as a Level 3 Forest School Leader before taking over to relaunch the school under new ownership. Now a mum of three, Daisey is excited to share the joy, freedom, and creativity that Forest School brings to children of all ages.

Kat

For Kat, everything feels better outside. In her work as an Early Years teacher, she has been drawn to outdoor education; firstly, within alternative education settings abroad and now in her role as a part time Reception teacher where she leads outdoor learning and Forest School. “When you see how children (and adults when given the opportunity) relax and get into the flow of free play and exploration with such natural ease in the woods, it just all makes sense”. Kat loves enabling nature connection journeys, whatever the starting point, through songs, crafts, games and play opportunities. Come play in the beautiful woods in Barcombe with Kat!

Wriggly

Wriggly has been working in outdoor education since graduating as a primary school teacher—a long time ago! When her son was little, she trained as a forest school facilitator and now works at Wilderness Woods and Stanmer Park, running Forest School family sessions. She also currently works with Bee in the Woods Forest School Kindergarten as an early years practitioner. She loves all things nature and creating spaces for children and adults to explore, connect, and play in our natural environment, with seasonal treats to enjoy together, cooked on an open fire.

Claire

Spending time in nature is one of Claire’s greatest joys. She began her forest school journey several years ago and has since led and facilitated sessions for children, families, and adults in schools, woodlands, and along the coast.

Claire has been part of the Little Forest School team for a number of years and continues to share her love of the outdoors by creating fun, engaging nature experiences throughout the seasons.

Heidi-Jo

A deep connection with nature has always been important to Heidi-Jo. She has experienced its benefits in her own life, with her family, and within her community, which inspired her to help others access those same experiences. This journey led her to discover forest school.

Following her curiosity, Heidi-Jo trained as a Forest School Leader and has loved every moment of it. Since relocating to Sussex a few years ago, she has enjoyed creating welcoming spaces in the woods where others can connect, explore, and grow.

Laura

Laura grew up in East Sussex by the seaside, spending her childhood exploring rock pools and camping in France—adventures that continue to inspire her to this day. With a strong background in early years education, she has worked in schools and nurseries before training as a Level 3 Forest School Leader.

Laura is a passionate advocate for hands-on learning and outdoor exploration. She has two young boys and two house rabbits, and together they love building, crafting, painting, making fires, cooking, and creating little projects for both family and wildlife. A lover of storytelling and books, she delights in the playful curiosity and seasonal wonders that nature brings.

She believes that spending time outdoors enriches every experience, and that Forest School offers children—and adults—unforgettable memories, the chance to slow down, and the opportunity to become fully immersed in the natural world.

Jo

When Jo’s twin daughters were two, she attended Little Forest School sessions—and that’s when she knew she wanted to become a Forest School Leader. She found the sessions and ethos inspiring and engaging, with endless opportunities to learn, explore, and create in nature, which is why she loves it so much.

Before beginning her Forest School adventure, Jo worked as a primary school teacher both in the UK and abroad. She now facilitates our school sessions at High Hurstwood Primary School, sharing her passion for nature and learning with children.
